Product Description

Serious Science with an Approach Built for Todays Students

. Smith's Organic Chemistry continues to breathe new life into the organic chemistry world. This student and instructor reviewed, new 2nd edition presents information in the form of bulleted lists and tables, with minimal use of text paragraphs. Janice Smith saw a great need for stepped-out worked examples; incorporated biological, medicinal, and environmental applications; and has built an art program that has yet to be seen in organic chemistry! Highlighting the art program are micro-to-macro art pieces that visually guide students to conceptually understand organic chemistry. Smith: Organic Chemistry is the text you need to see before making your organic chemistry decision..

Would not recommend this book for chemistry major since it mostly states facts and does not provide a comprehensive/detailed explanation.
Easy to read

5 out of 5 stars Excellent Textbook   October 5, 2008
Madeline Godar (USA)
This textbook is fantastic. It explains concepts that I never understood in my inorganic chemistry course in a way that made everything click right away. There is less "reading," per se, and more examples, diagrams, and problems - I find this very useful. There are hundreds of problems with each chapter - both sprinkled in with the readings and at the end of the chapter. Doing all of the problems in this textbook is what helped me to get an A on my exam. But if you buy this textbook, don't forget to buy the solutions manual as well!

I thought it would be in the original packaging but I was still surprised and pleased that it was in excellent condition.

5 out of 5 stars Well written textbook   September 29, 2008
Jeremy Daniels (Boise, ID, USA)
This is a well written chemistry textbook. It's not nearly so dry as older style chemistry books and is filled with many real life examples that make the subject matter more interesting.
